Fun Studying Methods!

At times, studying could be deemed as something quite tedious. All you’re doing is going through the information that has been fed to you many times. Here are some of my favorite fun studying techniques!

Sometimes, it gets difficult to study because we, kids and teens, feel that the repetitiveness gets a bit tiresome. We sometimes get distracted by other sources because we deemed it as “fun”. For example, if we study through a computer, we could get distracted by window shopping or watching a YouTube video.

Now how exactly could we make studying fun? What could make this intriguing to our young minds?

One method that makes studying extremely fun is competitive games! Examples of these could be from websites like Kahoot!, Quizlet Live, or Quizziz! Each of these websites is mainly used for educational purposes. Playing these competitive games is not only a fun memory to make with classmates, but it helps to keep the information all in your head. Most of these websites are used during the classroom, that way the teacher could help everyone to keep the useful information for an assessment.

About the Fun Studying Websites:

1. Kahoot!: Kahoot is a competitive game based on memory and speed! Teachers usually present it on a computer screen or smartboard. As they have the questions and potential answers on the board, students would have to read them and pick a shape that represents an answer that they believe is right. It’s a fun time to be playing with classmates and friends!

2. Quizlet Live: Quizlet Live is similar to Kahoot. Except, the teacher doesn’t have the answers and questions on the smartboard. Also, instead of everyone competing against each other, it is grouped against each other. This means, your classmates will help you get the correct answer and to win! Even though everyone is at their own pace, speed is important!! The group that gets all answers right, wins the game!

3. Quizziz: This time, the teacher doesn’t have the answers and questions on their computer/smartboard. You’re not working as teams as well. You’re competing against each other but at your own pace. Even though it’s at your own pace, everything is based on speed as well. The person who gets the most answers right and was quick enough will be the winner of the game!

You could play these on your own, except for Quizlet live. Creating a game with Quzziz or Kahoot, and playing it many times will help keep the information in your head memorable. In my experience, I created Quizziz games for myself, that way I’ll study for any upcoming tests.

Another fun way to study is by creating songs about the material. Back when I took science class two years ago, my teacher would make mini songs to help us remember important information for the tests. Not only that, but she made a little dance to help out as well. Making a song and dance about a certain material will help students not only to express their creativity but to create an effective studying method. Lyrics to songs usually stick to our heads after listening to them several times. Making songs about important material for an upcoming test usually helps, in my opinion. It’s extremely beneficial to be singing a song about the material instead of reading the material through a textbook.

This is also great for music lovers! Students that have a strong love for music would find this method to be extremely useful. Since their life is around music, they could incorporate their talent or love for music for their upcoming biology test or history exam. For some subjects, this method wouldn’t exactly work. For example: mathematics. We need to do practice problems when it comes to math. This is why doing the games as I mentioned previously would help out in that as well.

There are many more studying methods that do bring a little bit of fun into it. The ones that I’ve mentioned were the methods that I’ve used previously during my school years. They have helped me in many ways when it came to assessments and exams. Especially for big ones. Most of the time, I would just do the methods just for the sake of fun, not just because of studying. Find a method that best works for you and you only!
