The Magic of Storytelling

In our lives, we all need a little bit of magic.

Magic could be anything that comes to our mind and anything that highlights positivity. Anything that could be seen as something incredibly abnormal. It can be seen as something incredibly abnormal or anything that seems straight out of a movie or a dream. That is how magic would be

A type of media that has these magical elements is books and novels. Novels may seem like something that anyone would find interesting. Just because it has words all typed on paper, people instantly assume literature as the perfect time to be “bored”. No books seem to be catching their interest as other forms of media that are doing that already. Besides, if there are televisions and social media, reading should not even be considered a hobby at all. Right?

That is not the case, however. Novels are not only a form of entertainment that many people enjoy, but there are also advantages when reading different types of novels. Advantages could be that reading could enhance your vocabulary and improve your writing. Reading examples of published work could help with expanding vocabulary and practicing your writing style. The more books read, the more inspired a person could be with better their writing.

Another great advantage of reading different forms of literature is expanding your creativity and horizons. The majority of most well-known novels are forms of fiction. Fiction is a form of entertainment that could help us to become more creative. While seeing different works of fiction filled with unique storylines, characters, situations, etc., these could spark creativity as well. Maybe inspired someone to create their own stories as well.

Many novels are memorable works of fiction. I have read many books throughout my life, and with that, I will give my recommendations of novels that impacted me based on how enjoyable it was.

  1. Harry Potter

Harry Potter book series: The Harry Potter series by J.K Rowling is a very well-known fantasy franchise. It’s no surprise how popular it is! From the lovable characters to a storyline that keeps you on the edge of your seat, it is truly a classic form of fantasy literature. This series takes place in the Wizarding World and we follow Harry, Ron, Hermonie, and the many characters of Harry’s adventures.

2. The Hunger Games Trilogy

As a huge fan of dystopia, I instantly fell in love with The Hunger Games. This book series put me through so many emotions, and the writing was overall considerable. Each book makes you feel suspense about what would happen to the characters. The book series centers around a dystopian North America, split into 12 districts and the capital. Annually, they would host “The Hunger Games' ' where two tributes from each district battle each other to win. The main character Katniss gets herself into this mess, thus leading to something revolutionary. The book series also has a prequel called “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” which took place 64 years before Katniss entered the games. Give it a read if you enjoy The Hunger Games!

3. The Lunar Chronicles

If you are into science fiction, give The Lunar Chronicles a read! I have only read the first two of the series, but I fell in love when I read the first book called Cinder. The characters are iconic fairy tales such as Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and more! However, they are all connected in a futuristic world where an evil queen comes into play, trying to take over the world. Not only is it my favorite dystopian and science fiction series, but it also has romance in it!

These are my top three favorite book series that is definitely worth the read. With these inspiring works of fiction, maybe they could transport anyone into the great work of storytelling!
